I Guess I am Not Pro America
Well, according to the Prophet Palin I am not pro American. She is correct. I am not pro American as she interprets it. First, a word, Sarah, about AMERICA. Did you know that we live in North America which also includes Canada and Mexico. Check your atlas, there is a Central America and a South America. In fact, most of the rest of the world refers to these three regions as The Americas.
Now, with that clarified I would like to point out that I am one of those veterans who never supported the war in Iraq and never believed in those WMDs. Oops – not pro America.
I am also one of those women who demands that I and I alone have the right to make decisions about my body as does my daughter and all the other women in the United States. Oops – not pro America.
I am one of those people who believes as did John Donne (er, Sarah, he was a 17th century English poet and Anglican priest) that
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe Earth is the less…any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind…
therefore we are citizens of the planet and thus answerable to our global brothers and sister and responsible for our planet and for those who cannot care for themselves whether foreign or domestic. Oops – not pro America
I am one of those people who believe in the rights granted by the constitution to speak my mind and disagree with the policies and practices of my government without fear of retribution. Oops – not pro America.
I believe the government is responsible for ensuring that citizens are educated and that their health is cared for and that they can live comfortably in their elder years. Oops – not pro America.
I believe we must do more problem-solving and peace-making. Oops – not pro America.
I believe we must apply reasonable regulation where appropriate. Oops – not pro America.
I believe we must work harder to eradicate hate, prejudice, and bigotry. Oops – not pro America.
I am a person whose family lineage includes persons from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Since this country grew from a blending of many peoples and many cultures, I believe we must continue to ensure that we are a refuge for persons seeking better lives and that this country is better for those additions. Oops – not pro America.
I could continue in so many ways to explain why I am not pro America in your eyes and in the blinkered eyes of people who hold similar opinions as yours. I am however a fervent believer that those of us who are American citizens have the right to speak out against actions and policies that diminish this country. Doing so is in complete concert with the intent of the founding citizens of this country.
Sarah, you diminish us and bring shame to this country with each speech you make.

Thank you for not being Pro-American. I am Pro the United States, as a place that I can disagree with the politics and the policies and still be heard.
Let us pray that Freedom with in this country will survive those who keep trying to take it away.
Thank you for the insights and messages that you share.
Peace and Blessings
