Once again the misquote twist was applied to incite more fear and loathing from the GOP. Barack Obama was labeled a Socialist because of this comment:
“It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success too,” Obama told the plumber.“My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s going be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody, and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
So, if this statement and the attitude behind it is what qualifies one as a socialist, then I should probably get a Socialist for Obama sticker to go with the Veterans for Obama or Women for Obama or Thinkers for Obama stickers. It sounds like a fine plan to me.
You are so right! It’s unbelievable what the neocons can do with a simple sound bite, and how many “venomous” tags they can attach to it. It’s all part of their culture to preach hate and then call Dems (and others, me included) as hatemongering.

I heard now they are using the word communist. Taxing the wealthiest and cutting taxes for the middle class is, apparently, also anti-American.

We all hope for Obama and I am beginning to hold my breath, cross my fingers, and send as much positive energy out to the universe as I can.
Yesterday I saw a headline over on the Huffington Post that said “Palin loses her mind and calls Obama a Communist.” I’m having faith that people will see that the smears say everything about Palin and McCain and nothing about Obama. I pray and hope.
