Hello From Weather Hell

Photos not ready yet, but today it was 60 degrees (F) Tuesday we were in the midst of a major ice storm that left northern Arkansas as a disaster area.  How do we know it is a disaster area you may query. . . simple  no FEMA people in site.

Really dear readers, although experienced at roughing it under dire circumstances, I must admit that a week without a bath or shower is too long and I am checking for 12-step programs for people addicted to large doses of CNN, BBC and MSNBC.  Let’s not even start on me going berserk because I have been unable to use the computer.  I can now use it at home for longer than an hour (then charge in the car). However, until our power is restored our cable line will not be reattached to our house.  No news and No internet! The churlish fates are boxing my ears for my literary misdemeanors.

Thanks to my little brother and his squeeze, we have a generator and we managed to get a couple of propane heaters one of which is monopolized by the four furry kids who line up in front.  Thank goodness I just bought a pair of flannel sheets two weeks ago. This morning I was able to have a creamy cafe au lait without leaving home.  Parfait, well almost if I could have had a dose of CNN to go along with it not to mention a long hot shower. **

Our property looks like a war zone.  When the ice was on the scene was more of a Narnia disaster area looking as though the ice queen had released her rage upon us. Now it looks like the aftermath of a tornado.  No magic in site.

The people of the community are being troopers and seem to be checking on each other and helping out.  Proud of them.  We may see more snowy or icy weather on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Sigh . . . .

Come by tomorrow for photos.

**Note: I am on now because a nearby restaurant is now with power and has WIFI so here I sit awaiting a blueberry pizza soaking up the cyber waves through my fingertips and basking in the cyber rays from the blue glow of the screen.

Sorry to hear that you are in the middle of all this mess, Oneida.

We got ice with this storm, but only had one small tree limb come down. There were power outages near us and we had our generator all ready to go and firewood on the porch just in case, but our lights didn’t even blink. We lost power last year for a day and a half but, because we’re on satellite, was able to get TV and our phone wasn’t lost so we had internet.

I hope that you get power restored soon.

    Photos coming today.

I paid for a hair wash and dry today so I won’t scare kids and tiny dogs.
