Done Just Right

The room was finished with a few last minute panics. Matthew was his usual perfectionist taping and painting and repainting until it almost satisfied him. The crown molding looks wonderful as always and the fan is perfect for the room although I don’t think Katha uses it very much. At five p.m. on the day before she arrived we decided we needed a new mattress and spring so we raced to Mountain Home to purchase one.
IMG_1665 We got it all put together by nine and the only thing we did not finish is painting the two doors white. Those doors are throughout the house and each ugly one will be painted. He will take those down and paint in the studio when it is finished. Matthew even painted the inside of the closet before he installed the new closet organizer. We also need to order the new top-down/ bottom-up shades.

I was a bit over-the-top as well. I fussed and fidgeted going from room to room shifting pictures around to match the decor of her room (some real improvements overall) and finding the right accents. Matthew even changed the switches and outlets to new modern styles. IMG_1659 I decided at the last minute to change the duvet from the solid turquoise to the stripped one which reverses to turquoise. I washed all the pillows because the cats like to find the odd pillow to use as a soft place to nap. We got it all put together by nine on Friday but I did more shifting about on Saturday compulsively trying to get it just so. I finally just had to leave it alone and be finished

IMG_1674It felt really good to have one room complete and Katha added her own touches and preferences to make her room. I am glad she expressed her preferences and applied her personal taste. I suppose that when we have a boy for a year I will need to remove the more girlie touches and switch to navy blue and red for the decor accents and bedding.

One room down!
